Trophy win for Broom
With rain clouds gathering the Senior's Section members prepared themselves for a wet round of golf as they arrived for their tee times to play for the Sam Mates Strokeplay Trophy. However, much of the rain passed over without too much of an issue and that left only the recently hollow tined greens and newly laid top dressing to contend with which made putting a little more difficult than usual. Despite these challenges, Michael Broom managed his game well to card a nett 64 to claim the trophy by five strokes. Competition placings: 1st Michael Broom 64, 2nd Rob Young 69, 3rd Jim Worsley 69, 4th Neil Edmondson 69.

Golf's back on UK soil
When Sergio Garcia won The Masters in 2017, every headline was along the lines of ‘Finally!’. More than three years later, his win at the PGA Tour’s Sanderson Farms Championship marks his first win since and prompted many similar headlines. Although, did you know both victories involved Sergio putting with his eyes shut at impact? On the European Tour, Tommy Fleetwood looked to cap the return of the big names at the Scottish Open, a Rolex Series event, with a victory. But fellow Englishman Aaron Rai upset the odds to beat Fleetwood in a playoff that saw Tommy miss from a couple of feet at the first playoff hole. Both storylines demonstrate the importance of putting well when the pressure's on. So, if you struggle with holing out or three-putt too many times due to poor distance control, send us a message below and we'll be happy to help.
