Six New Year golfing resolutions… - Clean golf off shoes and trolley after each round. - Take wet shoes and waterproofs out of the car after play and dry in the house naturally (not on a heater) and do not leave in the garage...it's cold out there! - If the weather has been really bad then the golf bag should be emptied and dried out. - Glove check - If worn, has holes or filthy then bin it! It is your only *contact with the club, it needs to be dry and clean. *Dry: Therefore do not pick a wet ball up with your golf glove on! - Golf ball check - Clean the ball every time before hitting it if on ‘winter rules’. A clean, dry ball will fly higher and further. Also, wipe the ball before putting including the putter face. A simple piece of grit or sand if caught between the two will affect the roll of the ball. - Spike check - Look after your golf shoes include checking the state of your spikes. The spikes stop your feet from slipping and a golf swing can be a fast movement with the transfer of weight so you need a solid foundation to move on. Some of those ideas may seem a bit of a pain but if we look after our golf equipment properly it will last longer and help you in some cases to play better golf. |
