Although it's nice to play in the nice warm weather, the golf course takes on a new dynamic. The benefit of the bump and run shot and also the skill of putting spin on your chip shots can mean the difference between a good and bad score. If you struggle with this aspect of your game book in for a 30 minute chipping clinic with me.

Captain's day is always a highlight of the Club calendar and this years did not disappoint. Well it was more than just a one day event as on the Saturday, all the past Captain's competed for the Cecil Butters Trophy. This year it was won by Tony Hindmarch.
On the Sunday a total of 96 members came along to support the Captain on course and then afterwards in the Clubhouse for the traditional "this is your life" presentation. Lots of laughter was had by all and congratulations go to Tom Hobbs on winning this year's Captain's day.
A big thank you to all that attended and an even bigger thank you to our Captain Paul Rogers for a fantastic day and prize table.
Saturday Stableford Winner -

Wilbur:
"I will be honoured to attend to your creased Jolly Rodger and see it flutter once more in a coastal breeze of Milford on Sea after the antics of Saturdays Sexiest player "Simply Gorgeous". He almost had you on the broadside on the 1st and then on 18 his white bullet smashed into the trees above your head. However, you never flinched you just took aim and fired! You are one brave little pirate!" Summer Pairs Result -

Just call me Brian:
"Today Coops, we played well to come back and defeat two tough opponents 'Rock On' and 'Bullseye'. They started on fire on the front nine but we never gave up and we turned the match by winning four consecutive holes on the back nine to win on 16. If we win this competition I would like to treat you to a new fireman's outfit for your show, sponsor any UK tour and reserve a table with unrestricted view at Stanmore WI club for my rugby pals. Well played partner!" Finaly the June Green Jacket Champion & Hughes Tropy winner is
Chris Angell!
Congratulations
Chris!
This past week the Ladies section played for the Mixed Jubilee Trophy where 6 pairs played Greensome Stableford in blustery conditions, but with excellent greens.
The original trophy was presented by
Sandra Gates who was on hand to re-present the trophy to this year's winners, on 35 points,
Jo Harvie &
Kevin White.
Thursday, 8 June - Seniors Secretary versus Competition Secretary Trophy
With heavy rain falling during the latter stages of the competition resulting in a number of competitors coming off the course with a few holes to go, it was left to
Ivor Griffiths to accept his team's 5½ - 1½ defeat and present the trophy to
Richard Hammond in the Seniors Secretary versus Competition Secretary Team Trophy competition.
The New Forest seniors played at Bramshott Hill a few days ago, we were up against it. The Bramshott players consistently found the middle of the fairway via a tree. The only time the Captain of the seniors' section hit a tree the ball disappeared into the ether. Such is life!
Men's Invitational is coming around quickly. This year's event takes place on Saturday, 1 July. Contact the office or the Vice Captain to book your place.
