Saturday News

April's "Green Jacket & Hughes Trophy Winner" will go down in Saturday morning golfing history as a very, very special day. This weekend's winner of this prestigious honour goes to Chris Hughes a real stalwart of the Saturday morning gang.

Chris
gives his all and has proven that even after major knee surgery last year you can come back and play a game you love and win the big one!

Chris is not only big in character but also big in size and on the placing of the sacred Green Jacket across those ox like shoulders, his fellow golfing companions kept their fingers crossed as they watched and heard the jacket ancient stitches take the strain.

Fortunately, the jacket held up and one very interested Saturday brother took note "The Entertainer" and he said "It will fit, if I can win it....Mike!"

Well done Chris great performance.

Chris Hughes - 42 points, Dave Cardy - 41, Chris Angel - 39

Seniors

The Sage, Onion and Stuffing competitions give senior members the opportunity to play a non-qualifying stableford competition with fellow seniors within their age group. The Sage Trophy, for those of 70 years of age and over but under 80 years, was won by Ray Hurst with 41 points. Graham 'Rocky' Fearis was second on 39 points and Roger Linfield third, also with 39 points but a lesser back nine score.

The Onion Cup, for players up to the age of 70 years, saw Peter Ayers take the spoils with 41 points and with a better back nine score than second placed Dave Titchmarsh also on 41 points; third place went to Ivor Griffiths 38 points.

The Stuffing Plaque for the 80 years of age and over went to Alan Stevens who carded 35 points, which was the best of the four competitors in this category.

Shop news

We want to make buying new equipment from us an enjoyable process, one which leads to you playing better golf in the long run. This is why we've teamed up with Wilson to offer you the Complete Equipment Solution, starting this Friday and running throughout May and June.

How does a  FREE custom fitting and FREE lesson sound?

Click here or on the video image to find out more from Wilson.

It's so important for golfers of all abilities - particularly amateurs, who have far more to gain - to get custom fitted, as opposed to leaving it to chance, like you'd be doing if you bought standard spec clubs straight off the shelf.

You really have nothing to lose. We will help you to get the most out of any new equipment through a thorough custom fitting process before you buy, followed by a lesson to see you on your way.

Come and speak to us in-store if you're interested, but remember this offer is only available until the end of June.
