Pros news

Hi all, here is a report from Michael in The Algarve.

"Well what an enjoyable week I have had. Unfortunately I did not make it through to the next round of qualifying. I will be returning to the club at the end of the week and look forward to catching up with things. From what I have been told it is time to put the shorts away and reach for the waterproofs!

 See you all shortly."

Club news

The Club will have a number of changes taking place. The first of which is a new website. Work is currently going on to develop this with a target launch date at the end of March. Further details to be announced closer to launch date.

Competition news

It would appear that all members and guests of New Forest are a hardy breed! All 3 sections of the Club have reported good attendance at their weekly competitions this week. A variety of conditions have greeted the Men's, Seniors and Ladies sections this week.

All have reported back that the course is playing really well and this has been reflected in some very good scoring by members.

Details for the next round of the men's section Winter League will be announced shortly.

Members news

With the continued support of the Senior Section, the clubhouse refurbishment has moved into the bar area.

All the painting is nearing completion and it has really smartened up the Clubhouse.

Thanks to all involved.

Upcoming events

Advanced notice of the AM AM event in memory of Mick Wheeler on Saturday, 27 May with all proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer. Save the date as more details will be available soon.

Thought of the week

We didn't see that one coming

The hype surrounding last week's PGA Tour event at Torrey Pines was far bigger than usual, mainly due to Tiger's return to a familiar hunting ground where he has dominated in the past. He was grouped with Jason Day and Dustin Johnson for the opening rounds so to say this was a marquee group would be an understatement.

It is often said that playing alongside someone who is playing well can benefit your game and vice versa, and this was certainly the case last week as all three golfers missed the cut after 36 holes. Leading the way going into the weekend was Englishman Justin Rose, only to succumb to Spain's Jon Rahm who secured his maiden PGA Tour title by nailing a 60 foot putt for eagle on the final green. Talk about keeping your nerve under pressure.

We'll be on Tiger watch over the next few weeks so keep checking our newsletters to find out how he got on. In the meantime, make sure you dust off your clubs and take to the course. When you do, pop your head in the shop and take a look at all of the new stock that has started to arrive.
