Hi all. You will have a guest editor for the next couple of weeks while Mike is in Portugal. Mike is attempting to qualify for the seniors tour this year and we wish him well in his attempts. We are not at all jealous as we hack about in the cold, wet, muddy conditions while he plays on the beautifully manicured fairways of the Algarve!

How to repair a pitchmark...

Did you know that the average number of ball marks made on greens per round is 8 per golfer? Assuming 80 players on a typical Sunday morning, that`s 640 impressions per competition! Please therefore all take a second or two to make sure you repair yours and while you`re at it, if you see another mark on the green repair that too!

Our greens have been great this season and we can all do our bit to ensure that they remain in as good a condition as possible. We all want our putts to roll out smoothly - please help out.

A pitchmark that is repaired correctly will recover in 24 hours. A pitchmark left unrepaired for 2 hours will take 56 days to recover - they can also foster disease and infections in the green.

The Men's section Winter Leagues are now in full swing (pardon the pun!). As the league matches come to an end, many of the divisions are still very close with many pairings still in with a chance of making the quarter finals.


 

Nice to see our Club Captain Paul and Club Vice-Captain Rickie enjoying a well-deserved holiday on the other side of the planet. It`s so nice to see them immersing themselves in the local traditions, however you would have thought Rickie would have smiled for the photo, he does look kind of glum wearing a nice skirt and sporting a new beard on the far right of the photo!
